Car Care is a Generational Habit Feb 24, 2014
The concept is simple, take care of your car and your car will take care of you. With regular inspections and frequent tune-ups you most likely won’t find yourself stranded on the side of the road. Yet surprisingly not every vehicle owner follows this simple idea. What’s more surprising is that studies show car care is a generational thing.
A recent poll by RepairPal, an online company providing repair prices and customer reviews, shows that millennials are least likely to partake in routine care of their auto. In contrast, baby boomers are the most car-care conscious.
So where does the difference stem from? Is it available financial resources, daily time management issues or something totally different? Amazingly the study results do point to something entirely different. The poll results point to a societal belief that mechanics are untrustworthy. The results emphasize the need for auto facilities to teach “repairs and maintenance 101” to consumers to ensure a better customer experience and enhance trust.
Most of the respondents say a mechanic should offer greater transparency by explaining vehicle issues, the necessity for specific repairs and the reason additional work may be needed.
