* Valuations are provided as an estimate for informational purposes only and do not constitute an offer from webuyanycar.com®, except where you are expressly made a conditional 7 Day Offer. Valuations are based on the limited information we collect from you online and market information about your vehicle (which, for some makes, models and years, can be limited). Therefore the valuation may be adjusted at our discretion at any time, including prior to or during our in-branch vehicle inspection. Additional fees (e.g. titling) may also apply. By selecting to receive a valuation or conditional 7 Day Offer, you agree to our Terms of Use.

How do I sign my Washington vehicle title?

Complete Guide to Preparing and Signing Your Washington Vehicle Title

Use this guide to correctly transfer vehicle ownership in Washington State.

1. Verify the Title

Make sure the title is in your name and free from liens or errors. If the title is lost or damaged, request a replacement from the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL).

2. Sign the Title

On the front of the Washington title certificate, complete these sections.

  • Seller’s Signature and Printed Name
  • Buyer’s Name, Signature, and Address
  • Date of Sale and Sale Price
  • Odometer Reading
Where to sign your Washington vehicle title

Do not alter or write over mistakes. A replacement title may be required if errors are made.

3. Submit a Report of Sale

Sellers must file a Report of Sale within 5 business days of the transaction. This can be done online at dol.wa.gov.

4. Provide a Bill of Sale

Washington recommends using a Bill of Sale to document the transaction. It should include the VIN, sale price, and both parties' names and signatures.

Key Reminders

  • Sellers must report the sale within 5 days.
  • Washington does not require notarization for title transfers.
  • All sections of the title must be filled out clearly to avoid delays.

For forms and more details, visit the Washington DOL website.
