The GMC Canyon is a counterpart of the Chevrolet Colorado, which were a pair of medium sized pickup trucks launched in 2004. Their introduction to the market was intended to replace and update General Motors' Chevrolet S-10 and GMC Sonoma compact pickups. In other parts of the world, fans of this truck may know it as the i-Series as the company Isuzu, who helped to design the truck, launched their own version in 2005. The Canyon is available in both manual and automatic transmissions, and there is also the option of having either a rear-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive train with a choice of either standard, extended or four-door crew cab body types. The Canyon has undergone several changes and upgrades over the years, most notably with the new engines in 2007, which include the 2.9 L, LLV I4 and 3.7 L LLR I5, as well as a range of fashionable new tire and wheel options. There were also small changes to the grille and interior of the LT and LTZ models.
