Initially introduced as a concept car in February 2003 at the Chicago Auto Show, the Toyota FJ Cruiser is an SUV designed in a retro-style that became available to the public in 2007. In 2008, the new models received minor changes which include three new available colors: Brick, Sandstorm and Iceberg. Also, front-seat mounted side airbags, roll-sensing front and rear head curtain airbags, front-seat sun visors, rear window wipers, integrated remote key and a tire-pressure gauging system were added. Also, the “B” package was renamed to the “Off-Road package” to provide a more outdoorsy, rugged feel. The Toyota FJ Cruiser has been the recipient of the 2007 Excellent Value Award, 2007 Lowest Ownership Costs in its Class Award, 2007 SmartChoice Retained Value in its Class Award and a 2007 five-star rating in driver’s frontal crash test.
